When can I have a pregnancy massage?
Our Aenea Maternity Therapies are suitable after your 12th week of pregnancy.

How often should I have a pregnancy massage?
Our Aenea massage experts recommend that you should have a maternity treatment every two weeks throughout your 2nd trimester and a treatment a week throughout your third trimester.

Is massage during pregnancy safe?
Massage therapy is both safe and very beneficial throughout pregnancy. Your body is going through so many changes that aches and pains are normal and it is just as important to take care of you as it is your baby.

What position will I be lying in for the massage?
During your second and third trimester you will lie on your sides and be supported by lots of pillows. At the end of your massage you will be in a supported, semi-reclining position. Our therapists are highly trained and able to accommodate to all different bodies and bumps.

I’ve heard that foot massages are unsafe during pregnancy, is this right?
The body is made up of Chinese acupressure points that if stimulated during labour can dilate the cervix, augment contractions and reduce pain. Specific and prolonged stimulation of these points should be avoided until at least 38 weeks of pregnancy. A general foot massage during pregnancy is safe and very beneficial to alleviate tension and water retention.

I’ve had some complications throughout my pregnancy, is it still safe for me to have a massage?
If you have had complications throughout your pregnancy, we would advise that you speak to your doctor before attending a massage appointment. That way we know that the treatment we perform is in the best interest of you and your baby and can help to alleviate any worries that you may have.
